PKF Carr & Stanton were proud to present popular international keynote speaker Wayne Norrie to share some of his experiences, lessons and tips for business success at our recent seminar held at the HB Opera House on the 8th of November, 2011. Thank you to all of those who attended.

If you would like a copy of the seminar slides, or require further information, please contact Annette Willetts on (06) 876 8124 or via email annette.willetts@pkfcs.co.nz

Wayne is currently Wellington based but was raised in Hawkes Bay and is one of our success stories. He has a diverse business background with large amounts of “coal face” experience  gained from his own IT business – Revera and through the many board and advisory positions he currently holds.

Wayne Norrie – Revera Executive Director

When Wayne Norrie and Roger Cockayne succeeded in buying Hitachi Data Systems New Zealand from the Japanese conglomerate, they faced many challenges. They also had an amazing opportunity to re-baseline the company and the culture.

The focus on the culture was vital to both partners, and they set about re-building a new company. Within 12 months, the company revenue grew 40% and EBIT 100%. Within 24 months, they moved from bottom of the Unlimited Best Places to Work to being voted in the top 20.

Transforming the culture was the key to making this happen – how to get the most from your most valuable asset – your people.  Wayne will share the coal face experiences, lessons learnt and secrets of this turnaround of culture, and why it is so important for organisations to get right.

This session will challenge traditional thinking and offer practical ideas on how to transform a company through its culture.

Wayne Norrie – Personal Bio

Wayne has over 20 years IT industry experience ranging from technical and development roles, to sales and management.  This covers a variety of industries across a range of geographies.

Working off shore for 8 years across a diverse mixture of companies (e.g. General Electric, Accenture, Prudential) has provided some unique perspectives on forming and managing successful teams.

This culminated in a Management Buy Out (MBO) of Hitachi Data Systems NZ along with business partner Roger Cockayne.

Since that date Wayne has led the cultural change required to set the company on the path to success. Wayne had implemented a strong programme on organizational culture, and has gained real life experiences that clearly demonstrate the correlation between cultural strength and financial performance.

Wayne has been a popular keynote speaker for a number of organizations, including HP, TelstraClear, Commerce Commission, Jacques Martin, Synergy, HRINZ, UCOL, Deloittes, NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants, NZ Institute of Management, NZ Academy of Sport, LINZ, Colmar Brunton, Westpac, Working Success, Hudsons, and Hitachi Data Systems.

Wayne chairs a range of organisations including the Hi Tech Association (HTA), Team BLM (making the Bruce McLaren movie), Fronde, Maven and the NZTE Beachheads Program. He previously served on the Hi Growth Board and is currently a Director of Revera, and ASPEQ Ltd.

Other memberships include the WCNZ (World Class New Zealander) network, the Institute of Directors and he is a Fellow of the NZ Institute of Management.
